1968 Munro Toys Bobby Hull Table Top Hockey Game Comes w/working goal lights and overhead scoreboard Excellent+ Condition - No Rust/No Dents FLAT playing surface w/only a trace of wear and tear. If you watched the Winter Classic a week ago you saw former Chicago Blackhawks legend Bobby Hull drop a ceremonial first puck at the outdoor game. Back in his day Bobby's slap shot was the stuff of legends. In fact many NHL historians credit the Golden Jet's dipping, diving, curving cannon blasts as the reason the league changed the rule regarding the amount of curve on stick blades.
Whether you agree to honor the rule change on this 1968 Munro Bobby Hull table hockey game is up to you. Displayability: Whether you're a serious collector or player, this game's for you. This game is every bit as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. The playing surface is as flat as you're going to find on a 49 year old child's toy.
The ice surface is flat, shiny and fast. The metal frame with plastic corners is absolutely gorgeous. There is very, very little in the way of paint loss on the playing surface and the metal frame. In fact, there's just a sliver of it behind one of the nets.
By the way, that's the original factory paint job you're looking at. Bottom line, this game looks like new and will make all your friends jealous the next time they visit your man cave. That beautiful metal frame is completely free of rust and dents. The graphics are simple compared to other games of the day. But when a game bears the Golden Jet's name, anything else is fluff anyway.Playability This game plays just as nice as it looks! The flat playing surface ensures that.
The tin men glide back and forth in their slots without binding up against the playing surface. This game plays exceptionally fast with either of the three included pucks, (wood, magnetic and roller puck) so warn your goalie! Munro Toys made the highest quality games back in the day and that quality still comes through five decades later! Underneath, the nearly indestructible metal gear player control mechanisms work like new. They've been freshly lubed for trouble free play. After you score a goal, a simple tap of the lever behind each net and the puck is automatically ejected. The control rods are straight and operate smoothly.
Each of the four red plastic legs that flip up from the bottom corners and lock into place works as it should. Accessories First things first, the overhead scoreboard with hidden delayed puck dropper is in excellent condition. You won't find any chips or cracks or breaks in the plastic. The cardboard inserts still look good. All the other parts are in excellent or better condition. The white plastic nets have all of their tabs that connect to the playing surface. Each net is perfect in regards to cracks, breaks or any damage like that. The yellow puck flippers are all there. The tin men representing the classic NHL showdown between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs are in excellent or better condition! There's only a hint of use. Each tin man is completely free of rust. As I mentioned earlier, the game includes three pucks; wood, magnetic and roller.
But for me, the highlight of this game are the actual goal lights. Score a goal and the weight of the puck makes metal touch metal and when that happens the bulb flashes on, the crowd cheers and the goalie yells at his dmen.
The bulbs in the pictures are not included, all you'll need is a couple of flashlight bulbs and you're good to go. Box The original game box is included and despite its share of bumps and bruises it still has some display value. So the last thing I would allow to happen is for it to be poorly packaged and damaged in transit. I package these vintage table hockey games like the rare collectibles they are. Your new hockey game will be double boxed.
Inside this box, the original game box will be surrounded by packing peanuts. Inside the game each of the game pieces will be surrounded by bubble wrap. I worked very hard to achieve and maintain this status. I invite you to review my feedback and find out why.In the unlikely event you disagree with me as to the description of the game, please don't open a return request. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you have. I monitor my listings constantly and you'll almost always receive a reply from me after a very short wait. Those of you who have followed my auctions and listings over the years know that I have an extensive collection of vintage table hockey games. I have many models from the 1950's through the early 1980's.
I just may have it. I also have a huge inventory of parts. Thank you very much for your interest in my vintage table hockey games and accessories.
